Description
1) About
The Amgen Foundation is the charitable arm of Amgen, one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies. The Foundation seeks to advance excellence in science education to inspire the next generation of innovators, and invest in strengthening communities where Amgen staff members live and work. To date, the Foundation has contributed over $250 million to local, regional and international non-profit organisations that reflect Amgen’s core values and complement the company’s dedication to impacting lives in inspiring and innovative ways. The Foundation provides research grants and fellowships, medical education grants, donations of cash, product and equipment, community involvement through corporate sponsorships, and cash donations and volunteerism by Amgen staff members. In addition, the Foundation gives grants and matches staff donations to eligible non-profits. Its international support is mainly for disaster relief.
2) Thematic Interest
- Science education for students/teachers
- Research and fellowship grants
- Social justice
- Humanitarian aid
3) Focus Countries
They provide funding mainly in US and Puerto Rico and only very limited overseas.
4) Application Procedure
Please note that nearly all Amgen Foundation grants are made by invitation. Within the US and Puerto Rico, they, however, contemplate a small number of unsolicited requests for local programs whose work is fully aligned to their strategy to strengthen science education in the communities where Amgen has a presence. Unsolicited requests are only reviewed on a semiannual basis, in March and September. They can be submitted online. Individual grants range from $10,000 to multi-million dollar commitments. Organisations must be non-profit organisations that are recognised by the Internal Revenue Service as tax exempt public charities under sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1), (2), (3) of the Internal Revenue Code
