Description
1) About
Medicor Foundation is an independent and charitable Foundation headquartered in Liechtenstein and with a branch office in the UK. The Foundation focuses on international development through a selection of convincing projects in the fields of (1) education: they support projects that promote early child development and improve access and quality of primary and secondary education as well as projects that enable people to develop their professional/vocational skills; (2) health: they provide funding for healthy nutrition and clean drinking water, access to basic primary health care and sanitation; and (3) social care: they support projects in the area of social inclusion of marginalised groups, incl. persons with disabilities, the elderly and single mothers. Separate funding is also available for disaster relief and medical research.

3) Focus Countries
Medicor Foundation has defined three geographical regions, with the following key funding strategy: 45% of funds are allocated to Africa, 35% to Latin America and The Caribbean and 20% to Eastern Europe.
4) Application Procedure
The selection of projects takes place in three steps. First, you should contact them directly with a list of potential projects open for funding. If evaluated positively, you will then be asked to submit a detailed project description (app. 20 pages). Third, the Foundation will evaluate the proposal (this is usually accompanied by rounds of questions) and will decide on support. This process may take between four and six months. Individual grant sizes are usually in the range of $150,000 and $300,000 (co-funding is required). They largely work with international NGOs based in Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Austria or Germany (annual turnover of min. 5 MIO, preferably larger). For some of their project countries (e.g. Bosnia and Herzegovina) they tend to work directly with implementation partners (as for the rest they prefer cooperation with international NGOs).
