Description
1) About
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) aims at funding organizations and projects that are expected to achieve a broad, lasting and positive impact for society at large, focusing on vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly, and also exhibit strong leadership and sound management. The Foundation also seeks actively to support projects that facilitate the formation of public-private partnerships as an effective means for serving public welfare. Their four funding areas are (1) arts and culture; (2) education; (3) health and sports; and (4) social welfare. They also have emergency grants in response to the Greek crisis.

The Foundation does not have focus countries but supports projects worldwide in Europe, South America, Asia, Africa and the Pacific.
4) Application Procedure
Average grant size is around $500,000 and they give out app. 150-200 grants per year. 23% of their funding goes to education, followed by arts and culture (33%), social welfare (13%) and health (31%). An online request can be submitted anytime throughout the year via their website (in English or Greek). Applications are evaluated by the Programs Department and all inquiries receive a written response.
