Description
1) Objective
Founded in 2006, Well Aware is a non-profit organisation with headquarters in Austin, Texas that provides innovative and sustainable solutions to water scarcity and contamination in Africa. It funds and implements life-saving water systems to drive economic development and build self-sufficient communities. Well Aware takes responsibility to the communities in which it works going far beyond the drilling of a hole by ensuring its projects are completed on time, with integrity, and with the most cost-effective use of donor dollars.
Its project planning and execution includes thorough technical evaluation and oversight, strategic non-profit partnerships to further community success, hygiene and sanitation training, and community empowerment and support through combining innovation, collaboration, and community involvement so as to have an exponential impact. They fund the repair of broken wells, drilling new wells, rainwater collection, pipeline construction or expanding water storage.

Only those organisations that meet Well Aware’s strict sustainability criteria are eligible to receive project funding. Well Aware also works with communities to improve and/or build on their proposals for approval. There are no deadlines for submission.
