Description

1) Objective

The International Elephant Foundation is pleased to announce that they will be accepting applications for Asian and African elephant conservation initiatives for funding in 2024. During the 2023 grant cycle, the Foundation is requesting proposals that specifically target the following:

  • African Savannah Elephant: Human-elephant conflict mitigation and coexistence, Reducing habitat fragmentation and loss, Action to eliminate illegal killing and trafficking of elephants, Community capacity building, Conservation educatio
  • Asian Elephant: Human-elephant conflict mitigation and coexistence, Reducing habitat fragmentation and loss, Action to eliminate illegal killing and trafficking of elephants, Community capacity building, Conservation education, Managing captive range country Asian elephants, Disease investigation
  • African Elephant: Human-elephant conflict mitigation and coexistence, Reducing habitat fragmentation and loss, Action to eliminate illegal killing and trafficking of elephants, Community capacity building, Conservation education, Disease investigation

2) Eligibility

Eligibility is limited to: International individuals and organizations are eligible as are students, scientists, and institutions. Students are required to provide faculty advisor approval; the advisor should be a co-investigator on the application and must accept the responsibility of project completion and reporting.

3) Location

Actions must take place in Africa and Asia.

4) Budget

A limited number of grants will be available and the average grant size awarded will be approximately $15,000.

5) Application

The International Elephant Foundation’s Elephant Conservation and Research Funding Support grant application process is a two-part process. For applicants to be considered for funding in 2024, they require the submittal of a short pre-proposal which is be due April 28, 2023. Pre-proposals selected for further consideration will be invited to submit a full proposal by May 26, 2023 with a deadline to submit your full proposal by August 11, 2023. The selection of the final grantees will be in December 2023 for funding to be made available in 2024.
