Description
1) Objective
EMBO is an organisation of more than 1800 leading researchers that promotes excellence in the life sciences in Europe and beyond. The major goals of the organisation are to support talented researchers at all stages of their careers, stimulate the exchange of scientific information, and help build a research environment where scientists can achieve their best work.
The goal of the EMBO Advanced Collaboration Grants is to support group leaders in participating countries, in EMBO subject areas, to engage in international collaboration to strengthen their laboratory’s research efforts. The proposals should aim to reveal biological insight and should constitute joint projects with tangible objectives with the hosting laboratory. EMBO Advanced Collaboration Grants are research development grants with the intention to support high quality candidates to explore feasible collaborations to boost their research output.
2) Eligibility
Eligible are Life scientists with active research groups in the following countries can apply: Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia, Turkey. The applicant must be an active research scientist running their own research laboratory wishing to visit a laboratory in EMBC Member States, Associate Member States or Cooperation Partners. Exchanges between two laboratories within the same country are not eligible.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia, and Turkey.
4) Budget
EMBO Advanced Collaboration Grants and the optional Scientific Consolidation Subsidies contribute towards travel costs and daily subsistence of the recipients. The rate depends on the country being visited and is paid in a lump sum to the recipient ahead of the start date. The grants do not support awardees’ dependants, funding for salary, courses, conference travel, bench fees, overheads, or visa costs.
5) Application
There is no deadline for applications and evaluations take place throughout the year. However, it is recommended to apply three months before the proposed starting date. At a minimum, applications must be submitted one month (30 days) before the start date of the first visit. Applications and supporting documentation are only accepted via the online application system. Applications and correspondence must be in English.
