Description
1) Objective
The global objective of this call for proposals is to empower persons with disabilities in The Gambia by promoting their inclusion, accessibility of public spaces, and socio-economic participation. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities defines persons with disabilities as ‘those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others’.
The specific objective(s) of this call for proposals are:
1. To enhance the rights and socio-economic participation of persons with disabilities in The Gambia.
2. To improve accessibility and inclusion in public spaces, education, employment, and social activities for persons with disabilities.
3. To raise awareness about the rights, capabilities, and contributions of persons with disabilities, combating stigma and discrimination.
The priorities of this call for proposals are:
1. Education and Skills Development
2. Economic Empowerment
3. Awareness and Advocacy
2) Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must: (1) be a legal person and (2) be non-profit-making and (3) be a specific type of organisation, such as: non-governmental organisation, public sector operator, local authority and (4) be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Gambia.
4) Budget
The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is €1,900,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum €475,000 and maximum €950,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum (51%) and maximum (85%) percentage of total eligible costs of the action.
5) Application
The concept note together with the declaration by the lead applicant must be submitted online via PROSPECT. The deadline for the submission is 26 June 2024.
