Description
1) Objective
The Anna Lalor Burdick Program funds initiatives that bring women information and access to reproductive health care, contraception, and pregnancy termination in order to help broaden and enhance their options in life. Its goal is to broaden and enhance life options for women. The program focuses on sexual and reproductive health education, especially for women disadvantaged by factors like poverty, discrimination, or geographic isolation. It aims to support innovative and new programs or initiatives that offer comprehensive and unbiased sexual and reproductive health education.
Programs should
- have a comprehensive approach to SRH education that includes unbiased information on all options
- include novel ideas or innovative methods of delivering information
- define clear goals and intended outcomes as well as a feasible plan to assess impact and success
- be exemplars for replication if successful
- be economically sustainable if successful
2) Eligibility
Applicants must be tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service Code and defined as “not a private foundation” under section 509(a) of the Code. While projects may take place outside the U.S., only organizations based in the United States are eligible.
3) Location
Actions can take place worldwide.
4) Budget
Grants range from $10,000 to $35,000, with an average grant size between $15,000 and $25,000, awarded for one year.
5) Application
Applicants must first submit a concept paper online, following guidelines available on the foundation’s website. Concept paper deadlines are May 1 and November 1. Successful applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. The online portal will open one month prior to each concept paper deadline. Applicants will be informed within 6-8 weeks of the deadline date of the trustees’ decision regarding the concept paper. A small number of applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. Those invited will receive a full set of instructions to assist in the preparation of the proposal.
