Description

1) Objective

Brevard Zoo, a 501(c)3 non-profit organisation, is a community-built zoo located in Melbourne, Florida. Brevard Zoo’s mission is “Wildlife Conservation through Education and Participation.” Brevard Zoo’s Quarters for Conservation program fulfills that mission in three ways: (1) funding wildlife conservation projects; (2) educating guests about current conservation issues; and (3) encouraging participation of Zoo guests in conservation decisions.

The Brevard Zoo Wildlife Emergency Fund (BZ WEF) is a small grant program that provides emergency funding of up to $2,500 to address severe and time-sensitive threats to wildlife. Emergency funding is focused on saving wildlife impacted by natural or manmade catastrophes. Examples of threats that fit BZ WEF criteria include natural disasters like earthquake, flooding, fire, severe storms, and human impacts on wildlife such as poaching, human conflict, and unanticipated habitat destruction.

2) Eligibility

Brevard Zoo only supports established non-profit conservation and research organizations.

3) Location

Actions can take place worldwide.

4) Budget

BZ WEF provides support up to $2,500 and funding can be used for operational support during times of crisis.

5) Application

To apply, fill out the application that can be downloaded from their website and send it to Alyssa Rice at ARice(a)BrevardZoo.org.
