Description

1) Objective

The Azim Premji Foundation is issuing a call for grant applications from early-stage, not-for-profit organizations operating in specific regions of India. The objective is to foster vibrancy in the Civil Society ecosystem by supporting new organizations with innovative ideas focused on addressing socio-economic development challenges faced by vulnerable and marginalized communities.

Through small grants, the foundation aims to provide financial support to organizations that have been recently established, enabling them to experiment, refine intervention plans, demonstrate early impacts, and strengthen organizational and financial systems. By targeting organizations registered on or after March 1, 2019, the foundation seeks to fill the gap in financial support for nascent organizations, thereby promoting innovation and energy in the social sector.

2) Eligibility

Eligible organizations must be registered as a Society / Trust / Section 8 company on or after March 1, 2019, possess valid 12A status, maintain an average annual expenditure of INR 25 lakh or less, have direct engagement with vulnerable or marginalized communities, not work directly in education or health sectors, and not be classified as a social enterprise. Past or current partnership with the Azim Premji Foundation is also not permissible.

3) Location

The call for applications is open to organizations operating in specific regions of India, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttarakhand, and certain districts in northeast Karnataka.

4) Budget

The foundation offers small grants to eligible organizations. Specific budget details are not provided in the summary, but organizations are expected to maintain an average annual expenditure of INR 25 lakh or less.

5) Application

Interested organisations can apply by submitting their applications through the provided link by May 31, 2024. Applications will be reviewed in the order received, and shortlisted organizations will be contacted by the foundation’s team for further consideration.
