Description
1) Objective
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is a joint initiative of l’Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Conservation International, the European Union (EU), Fondation Hans Wilsdorf, the Global Environment Facility, the Government of Japan and the World Bank. A fundamental goal is to ensure civil society is engaged in biodiversity conservation.
The Coastal Forests of Eastern Africa Biodiversity Hotspot extends through Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Mozambique. The European Union, through AFD as fiduciary agent, is now providing strategic assistance to civil society to take targeted action for
biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation in the Western Indian Ocean, including in the Tanzania and Zanzibar portions of the hotspot. CEPF will award grants per an investment strategy described in the Program Design. This investment strategy is comprised of a series of strategic directions, broken down into investment priorities outlining the types of activities
that are eligible for CEPF funding.
2) Eligibility
CEPF seeks expressions of interest from eligible parties. Nongovernment organizations and other civil society organizations with substantial experience in climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development or capacity building may apply for funding.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Tanzania.
4) Budget
Grant size may range up to $200,000.
5) Application
All applicants must submit their applications by 4 September 2024. All application documents are submitted via the online portal.
