Description
1) Objective
The CFLI is a program designed to support small-scale, high-impact projects in developing countries, which align with Global Affairs Canada’s thematic priority areas for engagement. The majority of CFLI funding is directed toward local civil society organizations (including non-governmental organizations) and other institutions working at the local level. The CFLI is always looking to fund innovative projects that deliver measurable results.
All projects must align with at least one of the following CFLI thematic priorities:
- Inclusive governance, including promoting and protecting human rights, advancing democracy, promoting and protecting LGBTQI+ rights, equitable access to a functioning justice system, peaceful pluralism, respect for diversity, public services that work for everyone, and technological dimension.
- Peace and security, including supporting inclusive and gender-responsive violent conflict and violence prevention, crisis response and sustainable peace, supporting gender-responsive security threat reduction and security system reform, and women, peace and security (WPS).
- Growth that works for everyone, including advancing women’s economic rights and leadership, promoting inclusive markets and entrepreneurship, and promoting financial security and resilience.
- Environment and climate change, including strengthening environmental governance and enhancing women’s participation in decision making, investing in low-carbon and climate-resilient economies and environmental practices that support healthy, adaptive and resilient communities.
