Description
1) Objective
The High Commission of Canada in South Africa is pleased to launch its annual call for proposals for the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI). The purpose of this process is to select approximately 1-2 projects to be implemented in Mauritius starting in or around July 2024.
All projects must align with at least 1 of the following CFLI thematic priorities:
- Inclusive governance, including diversity and 2SLGBTQI+, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
- Growth that works for everyone, including women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, investing in the poorest and most vulnerable, and safeguarding economic gains.
- Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
- Human dignity, covering health, education and nutrition.
2) Eligibility
Eligible recipients include: Local non-governmental, community and not for-profit organizations; Local academic institutions working on local projects; International non-governmental organizations working on local development activities; Canadian non-governmental and not for-profit organizations that are working on local development activities.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Mauritius.
4) Budget
The average CFLI contribution in Mauritius is $50,000 Canadian Dollars (CAD$100,000 is the maximum allocation amount for a project eligible under CFLI).
5) Application
Expressions of Interest will be accepted and shortlisted on a rolling basis until April 1, 2024. Interested organizations are encouraged to apply early. Expressions of Interest must be submitted using the electronic form provided by the High Commission of Canada. To request an Expression of Interest form, please contact the CFLI Coordinator by email at PRETCFLI-FCIL@international.gc.ca. Applicants should submit no more than one Expression of Interest.
