Description
1) Objective
The Embassy of Canada is pleased to launch its annual call for proposals for the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI). The CFLI is a responsive, flexible program, directly managed by the Embassy of Canada, designed to fund small but visible, high impact, results-oriented projects. In general, CFLI projects are locally designed and implemented, making the program highly responsive to local needs and interests.
Unlike in previous year, only projects addressing the at least one of the following thematic priorities will be considered:
- Inclusive governance, including:
Promoting and Protecting Human Rights
Democracy and Freedom of Expression
Promoting and Protecting 2SLGBTQI+ Rights
Equitable Access to a Functioning Justice System
Peaceful Pluralism & Respect for Diversity
Public Services that Work for Everyone - Peace and security, including:
Conflict prevention and peacebuilding
Multilateral management of peace and security challenges
Supporting inclusive and gender-responsive violence and extremism prevention, crisis response and sustainable peace in conflict-affected areas
Supporting gender-responsive security threat reduction and security system reform, including through the Women, Peace and Security agenda
The CFLI is a program designed to support small-scale, high-impact projects in developing countries, which align with Global Affairs Canada’s thematic priority areas for engagement. The program is directed at projects conceived and designed predominantly by local partners. Projects are selected and approved by the relevant Canadian embassy or high commission. The CFLI also serves to support positive bilateral relations between Canada and recipient countries and their civil societies, by deepening contacts and supporting local endeavours.
