Description
1) Objective
The overall objective of this initiative is to support women with disabilities from marginalized and underrepresented groups, and their OPDs, to strengthen their voice and agency to advocate for inclusion and meaningful participation, gender and disability responsive planning, programming and budgeting in line with SDGs at all levels, in particular at the local level.
The specific objectives are to:
– Strengthen capacities of Elected Representatives and government officials (duty bearers) on rights of person with disabilities at the local level Page 4 of 53
– Strengthen the capacity of the women organizations focusing on disabilities to organize and advocate for inclusion and meaningful participation, disability responsive planning, and budgeting in line with SDGs
– Advocate for gender and disability responsive planning, programming, and budgeting with the government in line with SDGs.
2) Eligibility
1. A minimum of five years of experience working with persons with disabilities, in particular women with disabilities and supporting them to address organizational challenges, challenge social stigmas, negative attitudes around disability and advocate for disability rights from gender and intersectional lens.
2. Demonstrable organizational experience on promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, in particular women with disabilities and other marginalized and underrepresented groups.
3. Proven technical competencies in the application of human rights-based and feminist approaches to advance gender equality and for ensuring their voices and needs as rights- holders.
3) Location
The initiative will be rolled out in nine LGUs from three provinces (three in each) namely Karnali (Surkhet) , Madhesh (Janakpur) and Sudurpaschim (Kailali) of Nepal.
4) Budget
The budget range for this proposal is approximately USD 140,000- 150,000.
