Description
1) Objective
The Cultural Atelier in Yemen, a program initiated by AFAC in collaboration with UNESCO and funded by the European Union, is designed to strengthen civil society organizations (CSOs) working in arts and culture across Yemen. Over a two-year period (2024-2026), the program aims to provide participating organizations with the tools and support needed to assess their resources, develop innovative income-generating strategies, enhance their creative and cultural programs, and establish connections with peer institutions facing similar challenges.
Through tailored workshops, mentorship, networking events, and small grants, the program seeks to address key challenges faced by cultural organizations in Yemen, including limited funding, fragile organizational structures, and lack of access to learning opportunities and resources.
2) Eligibility
Yemeni independent arts and culture entities, including organizations, exhibition platforms, online platforms, spaces, and social enterprises, are eligible to apply. Applicants must have a physical presence in Yemen (except for online platforms), at least two years of experience, and registration either in Yemen or outside. They must commit to attending all workshops in person and engaging in the mentorship process. Existing grantees of other AFAC programs are also eligible to apply.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Yemen.
4) Budget
Participating institutions will have the opportunity to submit a project proposal to receive support for their programming and institutional development. A selection of the proposed projects will receive a support grant for further project development, based on an evaluation of the concerned institution’s participation in the program and their proposed project.
