Description

1) Objective

The goal of the U.S. Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program is to support efforts that promote mutual understanding and cultural dialogue between the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and which share the richness and diversity of American culture and society with the BiH public. Grants generally range between $1,000 and $15,000 and are awarded to non-profit organizations and institutions for artistic and cultural performances; workshops; guest performers, directors, educators, and speakers; the rights to perform American works; exhibits; etc., that further the goals of the program.

Projects should contain one (or ideally more) of the following components:
– A program component that helps build and enhance relationships between BiH and the United States and/or introduces a new element of American culture to BiH;
– A program component that promotes positive interaction and connects people across social and ethnic divides;
– A program component that reinforces the concept of a shared BiH identity;
– An educational component, such as a workshop or master class by a visiting American artist or expert;
– Projects that benefit a wide group of people or have a plan to amplify the results among the public.

2) Eligibility

Non-governmental, non-profit organizations (including arts and artistic organizations), educational institutions, and civil society organizations that are based and legally registered in BiH are eligible to apply. Individuals who are citizens of BiH are also eligible to apply. U.S. citizens and U.S.-based organizations are eligible to apply, but please note that there is a strong preference to grant to BiH-based organizations and individuals. Organizations and individuals may only submit one proposal per program.

3) Location

Actions must take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

4) Budget

Grants generally range between $1,000 and $15,000.

5) Application

You can apply any time, but keep in mind that submitted project proposals will be reviewed two times annually – after January 31 and after April 30. Proposals should be submitted 3 to 6 months before the planned event or activity, and the projects should not exceed 12 months in duration. This notice is subject to availability of funding. Please download the Public Diplomacy Small Grants Application from this page, complete it in English, and submit it to SarajevoPDSGrants@state.gov.
