Description
1) Objective
The purpose of this Call for Expression of Interest is to identify and – on the basis of responses received – select prospective or existing partner(s) to implement the DAFI Refugee Scholarship Project for refugee students in Botswana, Lesotho and Namibia on behalf of UNHCR South Africa Multi-Country Office (SAMCO) operation. Partner(s) will handle the day-to-day activities related to the management and implementation of the DAFI Refugee Scholarship Project for the benefit of refugees and the communities they reside in, under the overall coordination and management of UNHCR. UNHCR SAMCO is looking for partner(s) that could provide the following services:
– Managing the DAFI Scholarship programme
– Raising awareness regarding the DAFI Scholarship programme
– Informing potential DAFI scholars of the programme
– Liaising closely with the scholarship recipients for all support needed
– Monitoring the implementation of the programme
– Advocating for extra support to refugees and asylum seekers
– Collaborating with relevant stakeholders, i.e universities counselling unit regarding psycho-social and academic support to students regarding tertiary education opportunities for refugees
– Establishing other partnerships that benefit tertiary education for refugee students
– Provision of psycho-social, academic and orientation counselling to students
2) Eligibility
Organisations/institutions with expertise, experience and capacity in tertiary education scholarship programmes are invited and encouraged to apply and should be willing to cover the implementation of the project in the various locations. The DAFI Scholarship Programme will target refugee students with valid documentation and with no other means of support for tertiary education.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Botswana, Lesotho and Namibia.

The Concept Note should be concise and contain clear information, not exceeding three (3) pages. Interested organisations are requested to submit a Concept Note using the attached template by 25 September 2023.
