Description
1) Objective
The Democracy Commission Small Grants Program, led by the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, aims to foster the development of democratic institutions and civil society in Armenia. The program supports various initiatives, including the promotion of civil rights, transparency in government, legal reform, and the empowerment of marginalized communities. A significant focus for 2024 includes the protection of human rights, especially for displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh, and the support for diversity, equity, and inclusion. The program prioritizes projects that have a tangible impact on Armenia’s democratic development and encourages collaborative efforts among NGOs.
Priority will be given to projects that include youth as a key audience and demonstrate potential for significant impact on Armenia’s democratic development. Proposals should detail specific objectives, expected outcomes, and the target audience, including demographic information and the number of beneficiaries. Collaborative projects between NGOs are strongly encouraged. For more information or assistance, applicants can contact the PDS Grants Team at the U.S. Embassy in Armenia.
2) Eligibility
Eligible applicants include Armenian not-for-profit organizations, think tanks, civil society/non-governmental organizations, and independent media outlets registered in Armenia.
3) Location
Actions must be implemented in Armenia.
4) Budget
The program offers grants with an award ceiling of $50,000 and a floor of $5,000. There is no requirement for cost-sharing or matching funds.
5) Application
The closing date for applications is February 12, 2024. Applicants should submit proposals that align with the program’s objectives, focusing on human rights, diversity, information flow, and democratic processes.
