Description

1) Objective

Through the Direct Aid Program (DAP), the Embassy of Australia supports initiatives of non-governmental organizations in Argentina  and Paraguay that seek to reduce poverty and promote development in the region. It is a competitive fund scheme designed to support small-scale projects that aim to improve the quality of life of local communities. The selection of projects is done through an annual and open call, which is usually launched in June and includes two selection instances. The call and the results of each selection stage are communicated on our website and social networks. The objective of the DAP is to alleviate poverty and promote economic and social development in Argentina and Paraguay while complying with Australia’s international objectives. Special attention is given to the needs of minority groups, women and children.

Priority areas are: (1) Development of children, adolescents and young people: supporting strategies focused on access and permanence in formal education, vocational education, sexual education, development through cultural and/or sports activities, nutrition and nutrition education, inclusion for children and girls, teenagers and young people with disabilities; (2) Gender equity: giving support to projects focused on promoting the economic development of women, promoting the recognition of women and LGBT as subjects of law and promoting initiatives that work to reduce violence against women and children; (3) Indigenous communities: financing activities and infrastructure to establish or improve access to education, raise awareness of their rights and increase their participation in the community, as well as promote the development of traditional manufactures as a sustainable and productive activity; and (4) Environment: projects related to the environment and its preservation.

2) Eligibility

Projects must be submitted by non-governmental organizations (NGOs), or non-profit civil associations in Argentina and Paraguay committed to development activities.

3) Location

4) Budget

5) Application

Call for Expressions of Interest closes on October 31, 2020.
