The Australian Government’s overseas aid program is improving the lives of millions of people in developing countries. The Australian Embassy in Tehran’s Direct Aid Program assists vulnerable and disadvantaged persons in several provinces across Iran. The Embassy funds a variety of aid initiatives, ranging from small projects undertaken by local NGOs to larger scale cooperation with organisations such as the Norwegian Refugee Council, Operation Mercy and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
The Embassy funds humanitarian projects aimed at assisting the following target groups and development sectors: (1) improved quality of life and increased access to employment opportunities for disabled persons; (2) establishment of education programs (e.g. basic literacy, gender equality, drug and health awareness, water and sanitation) and vocational training initiatives within poor urban communities; and (3) alleviation of poverty within the Afghan refugee community (supporting educational institutions and providing increased access to vocational training and employment opportunities).
They encourage applications for DAP funding from individuals, NGOs and other non-profit organisations involved in humanitarian projects.
Actions must take place in Iran.
Projects can have a budget of maximum AUD 30,000.
