Description
1) Objective
The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a small grants program managed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that works directly with communities in developing countries. It focuses on supporting small-scale aid activities that deliver practical and tangible results. DAP supports local community efforts towards poverty reduction and engages a wide range of partners including non-government organisations, community groups, educational institutions, health facilities and local governments.
DAP projects cover a range of sectors such as education, health, water and sanitation, environmental protection, women’s empowerment and gender equality, supporting people with disabilities, economic livelihoods, food security and human rights. Through helping people in need, Australia demonstrates that it is a supportive and trusted partner in addressing global aid challenges in partner countries, including Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé and Príncipe.
2) Eligibility
Applications will be considered from local and international non-governmental organisations (NGOs), national and local government agencies and other not-for-profit organisations. All applications must demonstrate that they are not-for-profit. Applications from individuals will not be considered.
3) Location
Support is provided to projects implemented in Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé and Príncipe.
4) Budget
Funding per project is limited to €15,000. They encourage the submission of applications for amounts below this threshold, in order to maximise chances of success.
5) Application
The deadline for submitting applications is 25 October (midnight, Portuguese time).
