Description

1) Objective

The Inter-American Foundation, C.S. Mott Foundation, International Community Foundation, Tinker Foundation, and The Philanthropic Initiative have joined forces to promote long-term resilience in communities in Central America and southern Mexico. Responding to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Eta and Iota in November 2020, we are investing in strengthening the ecosystem of civil society organizations in the region that bolster resilience, climate adaptation, and disaster prevention. Extreme weather and accelerating natural disasters affecting the region’s most vulnerable places are pushing organizations to learn and adapt.

With this in mind, they are announcing a call for proposals to respond to the medium and long-term priorities of communities affected by hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters. These will be strategic investments that strengthen the capacity for action of local grassroots organizations in Central America and southern Mexico.

2) Eligibility

They accept proposals from local, grassroots organizations based in an eligible country.

3) Location

Actions must take place in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Mexico (Chiapas only), Costa Rica, Panama, Belize.

4) Budget

They accept proposals for initiatives with budgets between US $75,000 – US $250,000. The final amount awarded will depend on the scope of the proposed activities and the experience and capacity of the organization(s) to implement them. Grant activities may last up to 36 months with the possibility of extension.
