Description
1) Objective
The “Empowering Media Savvy Youth” project, initiated by the U.S. Department of State’s Public Diplomacy Section in India, aims to address the escalating threat of online manipulation and enhance regional security in India. Implemented in five major Indian cities – New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad – this project underscores the shared commitment of the U.S.-India partnership towards fostering a secure digital environment and countering external influences.
Through targeted digital literacy and resilience programs, the project endeavors to empower diverse communities, particularly youth, with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of online information. By equipping young people with critical thinking abilities and media literacy skills, the project seeks to build a cadre of media-savvy individuals capable of discerning misinformation, promoting digital hygiene, and safeguarding against online manipulation.
2) Eligibility
Eligible applicants for this cooperative agreement include not-for-profit organizations, for-profit organizations (with non-PD money only), civil society/non-governmental organizations, think tanks, public and private educational institutions, as well as public international organizations and governmental institutions.
3) Location
Actions must take place in India.
4) Budget
The estimated total program funding is $200,000, with an award ceiling of $200,000 and an award floor of $150,000.
