Description

1) Objective

The present call for proposals will provide funding to deploy EU Aid volunteers in support of actions that support and complement the provision of humanitarian aid in third countries, that improve the resilience of vulnerable and disaster affected communities, or in support of actions that aim at linking relief rehabilitation and development. The deployment, apprenticeships and online volunteering opportunities for senior and junior professionals shall contribute to: (1) capacity building of vulnerable or disaster-affected communities in third countries; (2) resilience building and disaster risk management in vulnerable, fragile or disasteraffected countries and forgotten crises; (3) disaster prevention, preparedness, disaster risk reduction and recovery from natural and man-made disasters; (4) enhancing the link between relief, rehabilitation and development; and (5) support to emergency response operations.

The activities funded under this call for proposals are expected to achieve the following results: (1) selection, recruitment and deployment of 450 junior/senior professionals to communities in third countries in vulnerable and disaster-affected countries; (2) for 100 junior professionals: possibility to take part in apprenticeship placements in Europe before deployment; (3) to achieve synergies and complementarity with EU-funded operations in humanitarian aid, civil protection, resilience-building and linking relief, rehabilitation and development in the respective countries / region where EU Aid Volunteers are deployed; (4) to communicate the Union’s humanitarian aid principles and the EU Aid Volunteers initiative in line with the Communication Plan of the EU Aid Volunteers initiative; and (5) to provide opportunities for online volunteering to support or complement project activities.

The call is open to certified sending and hosting organisations.

3) Location

Actions can also take place outside the EU.

4) Budget

The total budget earmarked for the co-financing of projects is estimated at €13,500,000. The maximum grant will be €1,400,000. Grant requests below €60,000 will not be considered for funding. Maximum duration is 24 months.

5) Application

Proposals duly completed must be submitted online 1 July 2020 Applications sent by post, fax or e-mail will not be accepted. Before submitting an electronic application, all consortium members acting as sending or hosting organisation for volunteers, including affiliated entities having legal or capital link with certified sending organisations, must be certified or must have applied for certification under the EU Aid Volunteers initiative no later than on 13 May 2019.
