Description

1) Objective

The JTI Foundation (Stiftung JT International) is a charitable organisation registered under Swiss law and financially endowed by JT International SA. The Foundation’s aim is to help less privileged people and victims of natural or man-made disasters improve their quality of life. They help less privileged people and victims of natural or man-made disasters improve their quality of life and achieve this by supporting organisations that implement programs they believe are relevant and appropriate. They support Disaster Relief initiatives, but their main focus is on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) as they consider that a critical element of every sustainable development program.

They do not support programs programs that are not aligned with their mission or commercial entities, unless the proposed program demonstrably relates to social enterprise as well as unregistered organisations or individuals. They have funded water and sanitation activities, psychosocial support, shelter and reconstruction works, seed planting or community centre construction.

2) Eligibility

Non-profit organisations with sector experience in disaster relief operations.

3) Location

They do not have any pre-defined focus countries but have funded projects so far in Africa, America, Asia and Eastern Europe (i.e., Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Hungary, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, Malawi, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Romania, Serbia, South Sudan, Sudan, Thailand).

4) Budget

Funding is granted for the whole project period (usually two to three years) and ranges between CHF100,000 to CHF600,000 per year (roughly equals $). Approximately 20 projects are currently implemented. The total annual budget is around CHF3,000,000.

5) Application

Applicants are asked to fill in the online form on the JTI Foundation website. This can be done anytime throughout the year. They aim to respond to all correspondence within 21 days.
