This is a funding opportunity for NGO programs benefiting refugees and returnees in Afghanistan and Pakistan. For Afghanistan, proposals must focus on activities supporting protection. For Pakistan, proposed programs should address protection, child protection, gender-based violence prevention and response, mental health and psychosocial support, and/or education. Priorities in Afghanistan: Protection; and in Pakistan: (1) priority will be given to programs designed to reduce tensions and improve social cohesion with host communities; (2) child protection; (3) gender-based Violence Prevention and Response; (4) mental health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS); and (5) education: Priority will be given to programs that support enrollment and retention of Afghan refugee children, especially girls, in Pakistani government schools, and the programs that prevent overlap and coordinate with other education programs, if any in the intervention area.
Eligible applicants are: (1) nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with IRS, other than institutions of higher education; (2) nonprofits without 501(c)(3) status with IRS, other than institutions of higher education; and (3) international organisations.
Actions must take place in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Summary budgets must not be less than $500,000 and not more than $1,500,000. Only concept notes for 12 months in Afghanistan and 36 months in Pakistan will be considered.
All applicants must submit concept notes through the website Grants.gov (not SAMS Domestic). Applications that are submitted through SAMS Domestic in response to this funding opportunity will be disqualified. Deadline for proposals is Friday, January 11, 2019 at 12:00:00 p.m. noon EST.
