Description
1) Objective
The global objective of this call for proposals is: to promote and protect human rights, fundamental freedoms, democracy, the rule of law and implementation of Agenda 2030 in China from a rights-based approach (especially SDG 16: promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development; provide access to justice for all; and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels).
The specific objective(s) of this call for proposals are to directly contribute towards:
– Reducing inequality within and among countries (SDG 10) and empowering social, economic and political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, ethnicity, origin or economic status. Adopt social protection policies and progressively achieve greater equality.
– Achieving gender equality and empower all women and girls (SDG 5), and strengthening the rights and inclusion of LGBTI individuals. Achieving women economic empowerment and equal participation in leadership, while reducing paternalistic stereotypes.
– Promoting sustainable use of ecosystems, halt and reverse land degradation and biodiversity loss, and combat climate change (SDG 13 & 15). Use legal means, such as disclosure of public information, and use of public interest litigation, to achieve environmental rights and redress.
2) Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must: (1) be a legal person and (2) be Civil Society Organisations, or private sector non-profit agencies, or public-sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations (including national human-rights institutions)and (3) be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
3) Location
Actions must take place in one or more of the following countries or regions: P.R. of China.
4) Budget
The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is €2,140,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum €535,000 and maximum €1,070,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum (60%) and maximum (95%) percentage of total eligible costs of the action.
5) Application
The concept note together with the declaration by the lead applicant must be submitted online via PROSPECT. The deadline for the submission is 10 April 2024.
