Global ICCA Support Initiative (ICCA GSI)

1) Objective

SGP is calling for proposals from competent not-for-profit organisations preferably based in India, or other South Asian countries, to ‘Provide administrative/logistical support and follow-up actions for the organisation of the ICCA Consortium General assembly and South Asia Regional Assembly’ to take place in India in November 2019. The specific objectives are:

  • (1) Management and administration of the ICCA Consortium General Assembly meeting to be held in India in November 2019. The ICCA Consortium assembly is expected to include (i) the participation of approximatively 40 participants (local, regional and global) to share and learn from each other’s experiences over the last three years; as well as (ii) to contribute to inputs towards a second potential phase of the Global ICCA Support Initiative (GSI) financed by the German Federal Ministry of the Environment (BMU) and delivered by the UNDP-implemented GEF Small Grants Programme at the global level.
  • (2) Conduct follow-up actions between participating countries attending the workshop. Follow-up actions, to be discussed at the meeting, are expected to include: (i) bilateral country exchange visits in South Asia between NGOs, CBOs and indigenous peoples working in support of ICCAs in target countries including, but not limited to Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka; (ii) strengthening of the Global ICCA Consortium regionalisation process underway since mid-2018; and (iii) capacity-building and networking at the regional level between national ICCA Peer Review mechanisms and/or working groups.

2) Eligibility

Eligible applicants are: not-for-profit organisations preferably based in India, or other South Asian countries.

3) Location

Actions must take place in India.

4) Budget

Grant funding available for the activity is up to a maximum value of $35,000.
