Grants for Gender Equity and Women’s Rights

Description

1) Objective

Minority Rights Group is accepting applications from women’s rights and gender equity organizations based in Egypt for advocacy grants. These grants are available to amplify voices and increase attention toward the situation of religious, ethnic and gender/sexual minorities in Egypt. The grants aim to enhance advocacy efforts for digital, national, and international forms of advocacy. Initiatives that leverage intersectional approaches, data management, and sustainable advocacy strategies to drive change are encouraged to apply. This initiative encourages collaboration between diverse organizations and individuals to address social inequalities, enhance advocacy efforts, and amplify underrepresented voices. Successful applicants will benefit from mentorship, expert feedback, and potential funding opportunities.

These grants are part of the Strengthening Minority Voices Programme implemented between 2023 to 2026. It aims to promote and protect the rights of Egypt’s religious, ethnic and gender minorities through enhanced advocacy, improved resilience and protection of activists and minority rights defenders and increased collaboration among minority and majority CSOs.

2) Eligibility

Civil society organizations, NGOs, small groups of activists, think tanks, research centers, and advocacy groups working in part or entirely outside Egypt. Organizations registered abroad but operating entirely in Egypt are not eligible.

3) Location

Actions must take place in Egypt.

4) Budget

The grant amounts are: (1) For organizations: €7,000; and (2) For initiatives and small groups: €4,000. The number of grants available is 4. The duration of the grant may last a maximum of 6 months.

5) Application

Organizations wishing to apply for these grants should submit an application form and a budget in Arabic or English using the form on their webpage. The application deadline is 17 April 2025.
