Description

1) Objective

Het Actiefonds is an organisation that supports the struggle for a sustainable and socially just world in which people and the environment are more important than economic interests. They do so by investing in bottom-up social change. It is their mission to support social movements and activists all over the world that fight for equality, sustainability and social justice. They are convinced that real change is always initiated and realised bottom-up. Change happens when enough people exert enough pressure on the powers that be, just like big social transformations have always been realised through people power in defiance of the rich and mighty. Their goal, therefore, is to support budding social movements. They give activists and social movements the financial means necessary to organise themselves, speak out and, ultimately, realise positive change. The combination of a global outlook with small-scale local action is typical of the unique way in which they work.

They fund (1) direct actions, such as demonstrations, blockades, occupations, strikes, revolts, revolutions and other creative forms of (non-violent) confrontational protest; (2) protests that pressure authoritarian and oppressive regimes, aiming for political change; (3) politically controversial and radical projects that have difficulty finding funding elsewhere; and (4) protests that are part of a long term strategy aimed at systemic change

2) Eligibility

Eligible are grassroots activist groups that strive for a sustainable and socially just world in which people and the environment are valued above economic interests

3) Location

Actions can take place in various countries worldwide.

4) Budget

The maximum grant size is €2,500 per project. The average grant size is between €750 and €2,000. They have a strong preference for organizations with an income of less than €100,000 per year.

5) Application

Please note that they get together every month except for the month of August. There is therefore no deadline to an application process. Applicants can use the online submission form but they also provide their application form as a downloadable Word document. If it is filled in the offline form, please email it to project-hetactiefonds(a)protonmail.com.
