Description

1) Objective

Founded in 2001, the Swiss-based Coromandel Foundation (Foundation Coromandel) supports projects in (1) medical and paramedical research, (2) arts and music as well as (3) humanitarian initiatives. For the first two fields of activities, the Foundation primarily finances Swiss-based projects.

In the field of humanitarian support, the Foundation works with non-profit organisations (normally, but not exclusively Swiss-based) who implement projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Around 35% of its total financial support is provided for humanitarian initiatives. They fund construction of schools, orphanages, dispensaries, wells, shelters for disabled, abandoned, abused children, etc.

2) Eligibility

Eligible for funding for humanitarian projects are non-profit organisations with a proven track record in this field of activities. The Foundation tends to support European non-profit organisations who work in partnership with local NGOs or CBOs.

3) Location

Outside of Switzerland, the Foundation has no defined focus countries and supports projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

4) Budget

Project funding varies depending on the type of organisation and need of the project.

5) Application

Requests must be sent in French to the Coromandel Foundation. To do this, simply click on the link entitled “Submit a request” on their website. The Foundation Council takes its final allocation decisions at the end of September of each year, which are not retroactive. For reasons of internal organization, requesting entities are requested to submit their file between October 31, 2023 and May 31, 2024.
