Description
1) Objective
The Dalyan Foundation was set up in 2008 as the initiative of an entrepreneurial couple based in Switzerland. The purpose of the Foundation is to enhance the well-being of women and children from underprivileged backgrounds, to improve their economic prospects and to allow them a life of dignity, choice and opportunity. It considers education and sustainable income generation to be two key instruments in achieving these goals. They therefore provide grants, logistical and intellectual support to non-profit organisations who work in the same field. They mainly support projects in India and Turkey.
2) Eligibility
The Foundation supports not-for-profit organisations which broadly share these goals.
3) Location
India and Turkey
4) Budget
The Foundation has an annual funding volume between €180,000 and €280,000 (CHF 200,000-300,000) every year and fund on average 15 projects per year. Average grant sizes per project and year are around €46,000 (CHF 50,000). The Foundation seeks for project partnerships that usually last between 3-4 years but may start with a pilot year with new partners. Most funding goes to projects in India (around 50%) mostly for educational projects for women.
5) Application
They approach possible partners for their support schemes directly; unsolicited applications are not processed.
