Description
1) Objective
Dovetail Impact Foundation (formerly David Weekley Family Foundation) was established in 1990 with profits from David Weekley Homes, a U.S. homebuilding company started by David Weekley in 1976. They initially philanthropically engaged in their local community of Houston, Texas, USA. But since then, their work has expanded across the globe as their partners confront challenges that require the very best of our hearts, minds, and spirits.
The Foundation’s mission is to engage the world with integrity, creativity, curiosity, faith and gratitude. To that end, the Foundation provides grants for projects in the United States (Houston) and across the globe. They are a Christian faith-based Foundation and support Christ-centered as well as secular organisations. Their programmatic focus lies on enabling the materially poor to lift themselves out of poverty. Through their Scale Portfolio, they partner with organizations working in the fields of health (primary, proactive, community-based healthcare), livelihoods (with a focus on increasing incomes for the ultra-poor), early & primary education, and justice (legal access, empowerment, and the enforcement of the law).
2) Eligibility
The Foundation is interested in long-term strategic partnerships and works with US-based and international, Christian and non-Christian organisations.
3) Location
Outside the United States they focus on Sub-Saharan Africa and South & South East Asia.
4) Budget
They typically begin partnership with organisations whose operating budgets are between $500,000 and $5,000,000, and provide general operating support. Their annual funding volume is around $20 million, they have around 150 grantees (around 30% are faith-based organisations). Average grant amounts are $200,000.
5) Application
Grant applications are accepted by invitation only, but organisations are welcome to introduce themselves by contacting the Foundation. Interested applicants can complete the brief form on their website and they will be in touch should there be a potential fit for financial partnership.
