Founded in 1967 by the Swiss couple Eugen und Elisabeth Schellenberg as a private family foundation, the Eugen & Elisabeth Schellenberg Foundation aims to support people in disadvantages situations, bei it through disease, replacement, disability or old age. The Foundation therefore has the following three programmatic focus areas: (1) medical cancer research; (2) displaced children; and (3) old-aged persons. All three priority areas are of equal importance to the Foundation and are equipped with equal amounts of grant money directed to specific projects.
Eligible to apply for projects grants are non-profit organisations in Switzerland and abroad (if based abroad, organisations must have a personal or institutional link with a Swiss organisation that is responsible for the reporting and controlling).
Grant funding is provided for projects in Switzerland and across the globe. The Foundation has no predefined focus countries.
Grant sizes vary and may be in the range between €13,000 and €36,000 (CHF15,000 and CHF40,000).
Proposals should include a detailed project description, some organisational background including a track record of previous projects, and a detailed budget and finance plan (indicating other sources of funding). Applications may be sent via email or mail and should preferably be written in German. Every year, ground six or seven projects are financed (two projects per thematic priority area). There are no deadlines.
