1) Objective

The mission of The Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Foundation is to provide funding for charitable, educational, religious, scientific, literary or testing for public safety purposes as described under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 with a primary focus on providing such funding so as to assist Armenian communities worldwide by gifts, grants, contributions and program-related investments to Section 501(c)(3) organizations, foreign Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) pursuant to existing United States tax law requirements, or to governments exclusively for charitable purposes described in Section 170(c)(2)(B) of Code, or so as to assist charitable or educational organizations located in Ocean or Monmouth County, New Jersey, whose primary activities include provision of health care or education and training in real estate development. For Armenian organizations in the US or abroad, in addition to Genocide Recognition, their priorities are those projects and organizations which promote and improve education, healthcare, democracy building, volunteerism, leadership development, economic development, and discourage emigration.

2) Eligibility

US – based entities must be recognized 501(c)(3) organizations. Non-US based organizations must provide a letter stating the grant will only be used for philanthropic, educational, cultural or other non-profit missions.

3) Location

Actions can take place across the globe.

4) Budget

The annual funding amount is up to $5 million a year. As a general rule they do not give grants for general operating budgets and prefer grants defined for special projects.

5) Application

The application forms can be downloaded from their website (4 pages plus annexes). The Foundation reviews applications quarterly, so please do not inquire about the status of your application if submitted less than 90 days prior. Applications can be scanned and sent to info(a)hovnanianfoundation.am or mailed to the office in the US or in Armenia.
