Description
1) Objective
The one-tenth Foundation (Ein Zehntel Foundation in German) follows the principle of sharing and solidarity between people, it pursues no political or religious objectives, but is dedicated exclusively to humanitarian assistance. It has set itself the goal to support aid projects of smaller non-profit organisations through financial grants and funding. It is important to them that their attention is not used for administrative and personnel costs, but 1:1 arrives at the needy.
They support organisations that carry out projects in developing countries to improve the lives of families and children in need. They focus on securing the basic needs such as drinking water, food and medical care and education. It is a small Foundation and they normally do not fund more than 2-3 organisations a year.
2) Eligibility
The Foundation supports small clubs and organisations mainly from the area of Heidelberg and Stuttgart, who work primarily or solely with volunteers, and bear all administrative costs of private.
3) Location
So far they have supported projects in Africa (South Africa, Madagascar, Uganda, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon), Europe (Albania), Asia (India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Cambodia).
4) Budget
Project funding varies depending on the type of organisation and need of the project. Their annual funding volume is below $500,000.
5) Application
Interested organisations can send a funding request throughout the year using the template that is on their website. A brief description of the project and the following information is needed: (1) actors and promoters (who does what?); (2) scheduling (from when to when?); (3) location (where?); (4) pilot project or continuation of project; (5) a financial plan (total cost, deficit, other sources of finance if any). Applications can be submitted via email or their online form. They prefer applications from German organisations (near Stuttgart or Heidelberg).
