Description
1) Objective
The Serra International Foundation was founded in 1951 to assist Serra in fulfilling its objectives of fostering and promoting vocations in the Catholic Church. Since that time, the Foundation has funded a wide range of programs for the formation and training of priests and consecrated religious. They also provide scholarships.
Previously funded projects include: vocational training education project in Mozambique, training youth in priesthood ministry and to promote vocations that enable priests to assist Christians in Rwanda, support of Catholic Sisters in Peru, medical campaigns, literacy programs, educational service for children and youths, assistance for abandoned elderly.
2) Eligibility
Eligibility is limited to Catholic organisations though not described in detail in their funding guidelines.
3) Location
Their funding support is open to organisations/projects across the globe (developing countries) (i.e. Mozambique, Rwanda, India, Peru).
4) Budget
The grant size is not mentioned. The total annual funding volume is around $150,000. They fund app. 15 projects per year.
5) Application
A request for the grant must be submitted on the application form provided by the Foundation. Any application may include supporting material and information as deemed appropriate and helpful to the request. Applications must be submitted online. A personal discussion or presentation is not necessary. Awards of grants are made once a year, usually at the Board’s winter meeting, for projects that will be funded in the next fiscal year (June to May). Applications must be received by September 30 of any given year. The next deadline is 30 September 2024.
