Description
1) Objective
The H. Hovnanian Family Foundation is opening a call for proposals for projects that will aim at strengthening the primary healthcare (PHC) system in Armenia, focusing on rural areas. This initiative aligns with the state strategy to achieve universal health coverage (UHC) and aims to strengthen the system’s foundational layer, which is essential for the effective implementation of the UHC. The three goals are:
- Group A: Increasing Healthcare Provider Capacity – Addressing the critical shortage of healthcare providers in rural areas; Developing the talent pool, focusing on attracting more candidates to family medicine and nursing; Enhancing continuous medical education and capacity building of the existing workforce.
- Group B: Effective NCD (Noncommunicable diseases) Prevention and Management at PHC Level – Enhancing PHC workers’ professional knowledge and skills to manage NCDs: Boosting regular preventive measures and awareness, especially in rural areas; Ensuring controlled and continuous management of NCD conditions.
- Group C: Enhancing PHC Management – Strengthening management and use of information systems in PHCs; Enhancing the availability of resources (enhanced medical equipment such as X-rays, ultrasonography, and echocardiograms, diagnostic tests for conditions like diabetes, anemia, or pregnancy, needed medications and more); Improving infrastructure adequacy, particularly sanitation facilities.
