Gabon, Sao Tome and Principe
Description
1) Objective
The general objective of this call for proposals is the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, democracy and the rule of law.
In Gabon, the specific objective is to contribute to the promotion and protection of socio-eco-environmental human rights, including of women, the disabled and minorities and to support the transition process towards a democratic and inclusive society.
In Sao Tome and Principe, the specific objective of lot 3 (human rights) consists of ensuring the accountability of agents of the judicial system and guaranteeing access to justice for all, by guaranteeing the right to a fair trial, that of lot 4 (democracy) consists of contributing to the improvement of electoral processes throughout the electoral cycle.
The priorities of lots 1, 2 and 4 consist of [i] protecting and empowering individuals, [ii] building resilient, inclusive and democratic societies and [iii] safeguarding fundamental freedoms, in particular by exploiting the possibilities offered by digital technologies and new technologies and meeting the challenges they pose. For lot 3 the priority is improving access to justice.
2) Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must: (1) be a legal person and (2) be non-profit-making and (3) be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organization; and (4) be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe.
4) Budget
The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is €1,550,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum €250,000 and maximum €500,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the minimum (50%) and maximum (95%) percentage of total eligible costs of the action.
5) Application
The concept note together with the declaration by the lead applicant must be submitted online via PROSPECT. The deadline for the submission is 13 May 2024.
