The program aims to engage at-risk youth between the ages of 7 and 18 in communities prone to violence and gang activity, particularly in rural areas with limited police presence. The initiative is designed as a community outreach effort to establish positive relationships between the youth and the National Civilian Police (PNC).
2) Eligibility
The grant is open to U.S.-based non-profits/NGOs, educational institutions recognized under sections 501(c)(3) and 26 US 115 of the U.S. tax code, and comparable foreign-based entities.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Guatemala.
4) Budget
The funding announcement does not specify the total program funding but sets an award ceiling of $200,000 and an award floor of $170,000. It is expected that there will be one award.
5) Application
The notice was posted on November 02, 2023, with an application closing date of January 05, 2024. The PAL program is scheduled to be launched by the PNC in January 2024, beginning in the Central District of the metropolitan area of Guatemala City.
