Description
1) Objective
KECOSCE’s Small Grants Program aims to stimulate local development through community interventions in Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa, and Tana River Counties of Kenya. It focuses on poverty alleviation, education, minority voices promotion, and providing services in conflict management, water, sanitation, and climate change. Ten community-led organizations from these counties will be supported, with projects aligning with these objectives
There are Six (6) areas of funding for which an organization can apply. Please review the areas listed below to ensure your organization’s goals fall within one of these areas.
- Poverty Alleviation and Economic Development: Improving local communities’ livelihoods and economic development in the local area of focus
- Education: Providing after school enrichment, tutoring or vocational training for low-income individuals and families in the local service area
- Environmental Sustainability and climate change: Preventing waste, increasing recycling, or supporting other programs that work to improve the environment and mitigate climate change effects n the local service area
- Health and Human Service: advocacy for adequate clean and affordance water, sanitation services for low-income individuals and families in the local service area
- Public Safety: Supporting public safety programs that include community led safety actions, cohesion, peace building, training programs or equipment in the local service area.
2) Eligibility
Registered and non-registered organizations can apply. Non-registered recipients must collaborate with a registered partner. Applicants must meet submission deadlines, attach necessary documents, be based locally, and demonstrate capability for financial and narrative reporting.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Kenya.
4) Budget
Grants range from Kshs. 40,000 to Kshs. 150,000. Projects should last between three to nine months.
5) Application
Applications must be emailed with specific documentation, including a project title, location, type of intervention, description, beneficiaries, budget, implementation period, and capability statement. Applications should not exceed six pages. The deadline is 24 November 2023.
