Description
1) Objective
The U.S. Embassy Malabo, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State, is soliciting proposals under the funding opportunity “Improving Rule of Law in Equatorial Guinea.” This initiative aims to support projects that enhance the rule of law and promote access to justice and human rights protections across Equatorial Guinea. The program seeks to strengthen legal frameworks, enhance judicial processes, and improve legal education and advocacy efforts.
Key focus areas include ensuring equitable access to justice for all segments of the population, bolstering legal institutions’ capabilities, and fostering civil society engagement in legal reform and human rights advocacy. The anticipated outcome is a more robust legal environment that upholds the principles of justice, fairness, and accountability for the benefit of Equatoguineans.
2) Eligibility
Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. tax code, foreign-based NGOs, public and private educational institutions, for-profit organizations (where allowed by appropriation), public international organizations, and governmental institutions.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Equatorial Guinea.
4) Budget
The total estimated program funding available is $600,000. Applicants may apply for awards up to this amount. There is no requirement for cost sharing or matching funds.
