1) Objective

The FLC of the Embassy of Finland is an instrument of Finnish development cooperation. As a development policy instrument, the FLC supports the goals and principles of the Finnish development policy and priority areas. The latter are: (1) Rights and status of women and girls; (2) The growth of developing countries’ economies to generate more jobs, livelihoods and well-being; (3) Democratic and better functioning societies; and (4) Food security, access to water and energy, as well as sustainable use of natural resources.

This year the call for Project Proposals is looking for projects in the media sector contributing to the following priority areas of the Embassy’s FLC Programme: (1)  Support to the freedom of expression, media diversity and capacity building, including: (i) promotion of transparency and access to information; (ii) enhancing critical thinking and media literacy (resisting disinformation); (iii) promotion of investigative journalism; and (iv) enhancing capacity building of independent media; (2) Support to environmental and climate education by media platforms, including: (i) promotion of environmental and climate education in media outlets (online, TV or print media); (ii) raising public awareness of the environmental and climate challenges and promotion of change of behavior and green way of thinking; and (iii) enhancing capacity building of media and cooperation with environmental organisations.

2) Eligibility

Eligible partners for the FLC include legally registered non-governmental organisations and media companies in the Republic of Moldova.

3) Location

Actions must take place in Moldova.

4) Budget

Award amounts will range from €20,000 – €50,000. Project duration is limited up to one year. The Embassy of Finland has total budget of €90,000 for the projects selected in 2020. Maximum 2 – 4 projects will be selected following this call.
