Description
1) Objective
The Public Affairs Section (PAS) Media Development Fund Program supports independent media outlets that provide objective and vital information to their communities, especially those suffering from Russia’s invasion. Funding is also provided to media organizations that conduct training on war journalism, resuming operation in relocation sites, cyber and physical security of journalists, as well as monitoring the rights of journalists and their protection during the war. Priority will be given to proposals that come from regions previously besieged by Russian troops or in temporary occupation.
2)Eligibility
The media outlet must be independent, non-governmental. Universities may partner with a non-governmental organization for a media project. Funding is also available to individual journalists and staff from all Ukrainian media outlets (organizations), private or state. Non-governmental organizations may seek funding if their proposals directly support the development of Ukrainian media.
3) Location
Actions must take place in Ukraine.
4) Budget
The maximum amount of a grant awarded for any one project is $50,000.
5) Application
Applicants are encouraged to send project proposals marked “Media Development Fund General Competition” electronically
to the address: KyivMDF@state.gov. There are no deadlines.
