Description

1) Objective

The MIT Water, Food & Agriculture Innovation Prize brings together early-stage, student-led startups from across the US, awarding $50K+ in innovation grants annually to ventures driving the future of sustainable water, food, and agricultural solutions. Since its inception in 2015, the Prize has awarded $225K to 28 winning teams. As the main innovation-focused event of MIT Water Club, they help emerging entrepreneurs translate research & ideas into businesses, access mentors & resources, and build networks in the water industry. All approaches to water innovation are welcome, from engineering and product design to policy and data analytics.

The entry must involve a technology, product, service, or process aimed at solving a problem related to the world’s water challenges. The water space has numerous opportunities and challenges to solve related to policy, technology, data sensing, analytics, implementation, financing, end-to-end solutions, etc.

2) Eligibility

At least one leader of the startup team must be a U.S.-based student. The startup team must have received less than $100,000 in funding before applying to the Prize.

3) Location

Actions can take place worldwide.

4) Budget

The total available funding amount per year is $50,000.

5) Application

The application will remain open until 15 December 2024  and all applications must be submitted online.
