Small Grants Programme is the flagship programme of Positive Action for MSM & Transgender People, committing a minimum of £1.25 million each year to community based initiatives focused on either men who have sex with men or transgender people. Our focus is resource-limited settings/developing countries and those countries which are particularly hostile to MSM and transgender people. They support projects that address HIV, sexual health and sexual wellbeing in combination with one other topic. In some instances, they also support applications that focus on just one of the topics below. For example, an organisation may apply to work on economic empowerment but only if: (1) they already address HIV and sexual health comprehensively; and (2) their proposed project focuses only on people at risk of or living with HIV. Thematic areas are: (1) Social Justice & Human Rights; (2) Education & Economic Empowerment; (3) HIV, Sexual Health & Sexual Wellbeing; (4) Homelessness & Shelter; and (5) Mental Health & Wellbeing.
Eligible applicants are: community-based organisations (CBOs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), registered charitable/not-for-profit organisations and (in very specific circumstances) social enterprises.
Actions must take place in: (1) Latin America & the Caribbean; (2) Africa; (3) Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe & Central Asia; and (4) Asia-Pacific.
Grants of up to £40,000 for two-year projects are available (with no more than £24,000 in any one year).
All applications must be submitted via their online application system. Closing date for applications is 21 September 2018. They aim to let applicants know whether their application has been provisionally selected by our Regional Community Review Boards by the end of October 2018. Please note that any provisionally selected applications will not be finally approved until our due diligence processes have concluded and have been reviewed and approved by ViiV Healthcare.
