Description

1) Objective

The Public Supply Chain Madagascar USAID MAHENIKA program aims to enhance Madagascar’s public health supply chain to ensure a consistent supply of essential health commodities, such as those for maternal and child health (MCH), malaria, and family planning (FP). Managed by the Health Population and Nutrition office under a cooperative agreement, this five-year, $45 million initiative (2024-2029) focuses on strengthening technical capacities and efforts to achieve an integrated public health supply chain. The program will support both public and private sectors, local associations, and NGOs for last-mile distribution, ensuring local solutions in transport and logistics are provided.

Additionally, capacity building and regular assessments will be conducted to evaluate distribution capabilities, with a transition to direct USAID awards based on these assessments. The ultimate goal is to improve the availability of quality health commodities for the Malagasy population in line with national policies and standards.
