Description
1) Objective
Following the successful implementation of the BMZ/KFW project Phase I by WFP and UNICEF in Borno and Yobe states from 2022-2024, Phase II aims to build the resilience of households and communities to respond to conflicts and climatic changes in Northeast Nigeria. This phase will leverage the learnings and successes of Phase I and contribute to KFW’s regional joint programme along the Lake Chad Basin with Nigeria, Niger, and Chad. The project will enhance synergy with existing UNICEF and WFP programmes and maintain high-impact interventions based on Phase I evaluations. It will also draw lessons from the regional stabilization facility that implemented the Regional Strategy for the Stabilization, Recovery, and Resilience of Boko Haram-affected areas of the Lake Chad Basin.
The project will focus on addressing vulnerabilities and risks at individual, household, institution, and community levels, promoting social cohesion, and strengthening government systems through a multifaceted and integrated response using the triple nexus (Humanitarian-Development-Peace) approach. The outcome is: Youth, women, men, and adolescent girls and boys have access to diverse, safe, and nutritious food in a strengthened food security system and utilize sustainable livelihood opportunities.
