Description

1) Objective

The Responsive Local Governance (RLG) Activity, funded by USAID through Bangladesh USAID-Dhaka, seeks to enhance the effectiveness and responsiveness of local governance institutions (LEGIs) in Bangladesh. The goal is to improve the planning and service delivery capabilities of LEGIs, ensuring they address the needs of their communities inclusively and accountably. The activity aims to support LEGIs in becoming transparent, gender-sensitive, and capable institutions that can monitor and deliver quality public and private services. This includes promoting e-governance practices and policy advocacy to enhance local government roles and resources.

Additionally, the activity will foster greater citizen participation in local decision-making through the development of Citizens’ Forums and other community-based organizations. By strengthening the coordination between LEGIs, the private sector, and civil society organizations, the RLG Activity will improve the quality of public services and ensure that the most marginalized communities are not excluded from receiving necessary support. The project focuses on building sustainable governance practices through training, technical assistance, and active community engagement.

2) Eligibility

The eligibility for this grant opportunity is unrestricted, meaning it is open to any type of entity, including non-profit organizations, for-profit organizations, governmental institutions, educational institutions, and other entities capable of contributing to the goals of the RLG Activity. Specific eligibility criteria are detailed in the additional information section of the grant notice.

3) Location

Actions must take place in Bangladesh.

4) Budget

The estimated total program funding for the RLG Activity is $15,000,000. The maximum award ceiling for this cooperative agreement is also $15,000,000, while the award floor is set at $100. This substantial funding aims to support comprehensive and sustainable local governance improvements over the project duration.

5) Application

Applications for the RLG Activity must be submitted by June 22, 2024. Interested applicants should prepare detailed proposals outlining how they intend to achieve the project’s objectives, particularly focusing on enhancing local governance, fostering citizen participation, and improving service delivery through collaboration with various stakeholders.
